What size tablecloth do I need for my dining table?

The first step in finding the correctly sized tablecloth is to work with your table's shape: will you need a round shape, square or rectangle? You'll then need to measure your table across both length and width. Then add on an extra amount for the "overhang" (i.e. the amount of tablecloth you would like to see hanging over the edge of the table). Typical overhang amounts are around 15 cm to 25 cm per side, equating to 30 cm to 50 cm to be added to both the length and width measurements. This will give you the ballpark tablecloth size you need for the best coverage. For very formal dining occasions you can opt for a much longer tablecloth to create a sense of occasion.

How long should a table runner be?

Table runners should cover the full length of the table, with around 15 cm of overhang on each side. Make sure the width of the runner will work with your table width and planned setting layout, ensuring there will be an amount of space left between the runner and your placemats.
